Alpha provides high-quality homes and support to tenants across Northern Ireland.

Currently most of our accommodation is sheltered housing for older people.

We are now embarking on an ambitious growth phase through building new homes. Exemplar new build projects are helping set new standards of housing for independent older people. Over the coming years we intend to build hundreds of good homes of varying sizes and types, including for families and disabled people.

Supporting our tenants

Our sheltered housing scheme staff provide high-quality support. This ranges from practical assistance arranging repairs or accessing healthcare, to organising social activities, helping to reduce isolation and loneliness. Normally regular group activities are held in our sheltered housing schemes, with community activities including baby yoga and gardening projects.

Currently normal scheme life is affected by COVID-19, especially limiting group activities. However we are doing our utmost to keep our tenants, staff and visitors safe throughout the pandemic. We are pleased that 92% of our tenants are satisfied with Alpha's response to COVID-19.

Our History

Alpha Housing was formed in July 2009 from the merger of Abode Housing Association (the former Baptist Housing Association) and Presbyterian Housing Association.

Presbyterian Housing Association was founded in 1977 with Abode having been established in 1982. As well as church roots, both associations specialised in providing sheltered housing to older people, so the merger was a good organisational fit.

Since 2009, Alpha has taken pride in providing high quality homes and support to people from all backgrounds.
